Dear Editor,

sI applied for the second time at the US Embassy for a nonimmigrant visa and I am very much distraught about the situation.

After answering the questions posed by the interviewing officer I was denied without even being given a proper reason for my denial.

To add insult to injury, I noted that there was no room for an appeal on the slip of paper I was handed, so I am partially doomed.

I mean, imagine a single parent, hard-working member of the civil service, and a small-scale broiler farmer; I consider these characteristics my most prized assets in my beautiful country. I cannot comprehend why they would have come to the conclusion that I wanted to run away to their country.

Like all young aspiring individuals, I would’ve welcomed the opportunity to travel just for leisure and to experience another culture. Simply just to get a glimpse of what America entails.

I lost my money, time, enthusiasm, and I cannot come to grips with the unforeseen reasons I was not considered eligible at this time.

I believe that the US Embassy should implement a system where applicants can be refunded a portion of their money if they are found ‘unfit’. It is just totally unfair.
