Tiana Wilson named girls’ basketball MVP
Mt Alvernia High’s Tiana Wilson was last week named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) after she led the Montego Bay school to their second Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association Western Conference girls’ basketball title in three years.
Mt Alvernia upset the previously unbeaten Holland High 31-28 in the exciting final played at the Montego Bay Cricket Club recently.
Wilson, who had a double-double with a game-high 14 points and 10 rebounds, also won the award for most steals in the season.
Rodene Morris of last year’s champions Rhodes Hall High also had two awards: most free throws and most blocked shots.
Meanwhile, Muschett High won three awards as Rockel Mason scored most points, Isha Roache had most three-point baskets, and Peter-Ann Headley had the most rebounds.
Despite winning all eight games coming into the final, Holland High won just one award — Tatianna Fagan for most assists.
Mt Alvernia High and Holland High will represent the Western Conference in the all-island play-offs.
