TRANSPORT and Mining Minister Lester “Mike” Henry has confirmed that the official transfer documents for seven special Exploration and Processing Licences, previously held by OZ Minerals, have been handed over to Carube Copper Corp of Canada.

This means that Carube Copper now has 100 per cent ownership of 11 licences, covering approximately 535 square kilometres in Jamaica.

According to Minister Henry, Carube Copper now can now move forward with aggressive exploration programmes of the flagship Bellas Gate project in Clarendon.

He says Carube Copper has at its disposal a $14-million data package from Oz Minerals plus Can$1.6 million financing to immediately kick-start its operations in Jamaica, which the minister said is in keeping with the Government’s growth and job creation agenda

The company will be embarking on drilling explorations for copper and possible gold over a wide range of areas, from Hendley to Provost, Simon, Geo Hill, Camel Hill, Lucky Valley, Charlie, Upper Ginger Hill and Connors.

President and CEO of Carube Copper Jeff Ackert said that after an in-depth analysis and interpretation of all the new geophysical, geochemical and geological mapping data and drilling information collected, he was pleased with the incredible quality of the targets that are now ready for drilling at Bellas Gate.

He said the data has indicated that significant copper and gold porphyry systems exit at Bellas Gate.
