Wolmer’s honours Rocky Meade
The Wolmer’s fraternity honoured one of its own heroes — Chief of Defence Staff Major General Rocky Ricardo Meade — over cocktails at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel recently.
Wolmer’s Trust Chairman Milton Samuda presented Major General Meade with a citation which chronicles the army chief’s life at Wolmer’s Boys’ School and his transition from the cadet corps to the military, where he continues to serve his country.Samuda also presented Major General Meade with the chairman’s mug — inscribed with the army chief’s name — and acknowledged the historic role that Wolmer’s has played in the leadership of the Jamaica Defence Force.In his reply, Major General Meade thanked Samuda for the “unexpected honour” and for the inspiration he received from him as his head boy while at Wolmer’s. He also acknowledged the influence and support of his mother and family, and former chiefs of defence staff including Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin and Major General Antony Anderson.
