Late… but finally a kinda apology
Dear Editor,
The first step is usually an apology, even if it’s late or a half-hearted one. That first step is necessary to heal or to learn from one’s mistakes. On Monday, May 8, 2017, on the
Nationwide at 5 discussion segment, Dr Omar Davies quintessentially apologised for what happened during the financial meltdown in the 1990s. He said he was sorry for the people who suffered losses, and blamed the threats of hyper-inflation at that time.I know many of the Finsac’d won’t accept Davies’ apology due to the pain and sorrow experienced, but at least we have someone who’ll be retiring from politics finally admitting the whole situation could’ve been handled better. Our country is still seeing the effect of FINSAC on our business community. The long-awaited FINSAC report is due within seven months; therefore, the country will see where both sides stand.
