No more Mother’s and Father’s days?
Dear Editor,
Do you see what happens when gay couples decide to adopt kids? The liberal newspaper
The Washington Post published an article on Monday, May 8, 2017, just six days before Mother’s Day, entitled ‘For some gay parents, Mother’s Day (or Father’s Day) is awkward’. Basically, this article is looking on the point of view of the LGBT community calling for the banning of Mother’s and Father’s days totally, and just have a Parent’s Day alone.Same-sex couples with kids are always going to feel awkward.Let me make it abundantly clear, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are here to stay. Many households are single-parented, so either they prefer Mother’s Day more, or in some instances Father’s Day more, or in few instances for the lucky children they love both days.I understand other arguments, other than from the LGBT point of view, that look more reasonable. For example, men will cry out that Mother’s Day is more popular than Father’s Day, but who is to be blamed for that?I know I’m going to get a stinging reply from some individuals and groups like the Jamaica Forum for Lesbians, All-Sexuals, and Gays who love to shut down conservative/traditional people and their views. But so be it. They love to preach tolerance and freedom of expression, so I hope they give me those rights before painting me as homophobic. In closing, dear readers happy belated Mother’s Day and have a Happy Father’s Day when it comes.
