Schools in flood prone areas closed
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Ministry of Education is advising that all educational institutions in flood prone areas across the island should remain closed today.
In a release this morning, the ministry said that parents and schools administrators are urged to exercise extreme caution due to a flood warning issued for several parishes.The Overseas Examination Commission will be issuing an advisory on the procedures to be implemented for those students who are due to sit CSEC and CAPE exams today.However, students who are due to sit Industrial Technology, Textiles and Clothing, Agriculture, Mechanical Engineering, French, Computer Science, Geography, Entrepreneurship and Electrical and Electronic Technology today are advised to go the nearest examination centre, if possible.The ministry is also advising that the all-island consultation among principals and board chairs of secondary schools planned for today at Jamaica College has been postponed until further notice.It further advised that the training workshops for the National Standards Curriculum in St Andrew have also been postponed.
