winner of today’s St James Football Association Sandals International Division One third-round cross-zone game between Lane FC and Irwin United at Irwin High could decide the team that finishes at the top of the tables at the end of the round.Both teams, along with current leaders Somerton FC and Fire House SC, have all secured their places in the semi-finals, but the final places are still to be decided.Somerton FC lead with 26 points and have completed their fixtures; Irwin United are in second place on 24 points with one game to come after today; Fire House SC are next on 22 points with one game to go against Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College on Monday, with Lane FC in fourth place on 21 points, also with two games to play.Irwin United will start favourites to win today’s game and a expected move to the top over Somerton FC with the league’s top scorer Odane Ellis expected to lead the team and will be seeking to add to his 10 goals scored during the season.Lane FC were hammered 1-4 in their most recent game and will hope to rebound today as they also seek to top the tables.Also today, Sam Sharpe TC and Copperwood FC will be trying to fend off relegation when they meet in Granville.Sam Sharpe TC are on 10 points from 10 games, two points better than Copperwood who have played one game more.Meanwhile, on Monday, Violet Kickers ended their season on a high, winning their fourth game in a row by beating Bogue United 2-1.Both teams ended on 20 points with Bogue just slightly ahead on goal difference.Andrew Walker gave Violet Kickers the lead in the 25th minute, scoring his ninth goal of the season, while Ricardo Harriott made it 2-0 in the 68th minute, before Sanjay Patterson pulled one back for Bogue United in the 70th minute.
