WAKEFIELD, Trelawny — Crews from the National Works Agency (NWA) were working feverishly yesterday to clear a number of roads across the western region that were blocked following heavy rains earlier this week.

Observer that roads in the Wakefield and Jackson Town areas of Trelawny; the Barnett to Adelphi main road and sections of Spring Mount in St James, as well as Three Miles River in Westmoreland were among those inundated.She added that the inclement weather has also caused a number of landslides on the roadway from Wire Fence to Watson, Stettin to Highgate Hall, all in Trelawny, as well as sections of the Delveland road in Westmoreland.Ricketts said, however, that the NWA was in the process of having roads blocked by silt, boulders and fallen trees cleared.Meanwhile, classes at the Muschett High School and Wakefield Primary were suspended yesterday due mainly to rising waters in sections of the flood-prone Wakefield community.And up to late yesterday, the Bounty Hall to Wakefield main road in Trelawny was impassable due to large bodies of water in the Logwood Valley area.— Mark Cummings
