Ja Invitational: Despite spirited performance, Hyde places 2nd in 400mH
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica’s Jaheel Hyde produced a spirited performance, but was beaten into second in the men’s 400m hurdles a short while ago at the 14th staging of the Jamaica International Invitational meet at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Hyde clocked a new personal best of 48.63 seconds, lowering his previous best of 49.01. The event was won in fine style by Kyron McMaster of the British Virgin Island in a new world lead and national record time of 47.80 seconds.The previous world leading time was 48.31 seconds.Hyde’s run was made even more special by the fact that he finished ahead of veteran American hurdler Bershawn Jackson (48.63s), who was third, and Puerto Rico’s Olympian Javier Culson.Sherdon Cowan
