Quallo reunites with squadmates after 40 years
Police Commissioner George Quallo and 19 other members of his squad which completed police training in 1977 got together for a 40th reunion last Thursday at the Spanish Dream Hotel in St Andrew to mark the occasion.
Chairman of the function, Assistant Commissioner of Police Assan Thompson, said he was happy that one from among them had risen to the top to become commander and chief of the Jamaica Constabulary Force. Thompson said the commissioner had not forgotten his roots and would do well.Commissioner Quallo, in addressing his squadmates, said that if someone had given him a million dollars he would not be so happy as being with his squadmates, some of whom he had not seen in 40 years. He was almost drawn to tears when he spoke.Responding on behalf of the squadmates, Errol Dennis, who travelled from the United States for the function, said that words had failed him to adequately describe his feelings about the reunion. He said that he would be networking with other squadmates who are living overseas to lend support to the JCF. The function will become an annual event and will be held on the Thursday before the JCF annual sports day.
