Gun with Haitian police insignia seized after men shoot at cops in Rockfort
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police this morning reported that officers assigned to the Kingston Eastern Division seized a Galil Ace 22 rifle after coming under fire in Rockfort this morning.
The lawmen were reportedly on patrol in the area about 2:00 am when they responded to explosions on Peters Road.
On arrival, they said they saw a man with multiple gunshot wounds on the ground. This was when the police came under fire, and after the shooting subsided the firearm, which bears the insignia of the Haitian police, was found.
A magazine containing six 5.56 cartridges was also found a seized.
The injured man was assisted to the hospital for treatment. No one was arrested.
The police say investigations continue.
