Security guard charged with killing Haile Clacken granted $1-m bail
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Guardsman security guard, Shawn Cole, who is accused of killing a mentally ill man in St Elizabeth last month, was granted bail in the sum of one million dollars when he appeared in court today.
The conditions of his bail include one or two sureties; reporting to the Mandeville Police Station on Wednesdays and Saturdays between the hours of 6:00 am and 6:00 pm, stop order; surrendering travel documents; and his fingerprint should be taken.
Cole, 38, made his first appearance in the Balaclava Court in St Elizabeth this morning before Presiding Judge John Tyme. He is set to return on August 23.
The security guard, who is of a Manchester address, allegedly fatally shot Haile Clacken, 36, after he climbed onto an armoured truck on June 23 in Junction, St Elizabeth.
Clacken reportedly suffered from bipolar disorder.
