Julian Forte, while celebrating his selection to Jamaica’s World Championships team, expressed disappointment with his execution in the 100m race at the recent Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association National Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.

At the trials Forte, who stopped the clock at 10.04 seconds, finished behind Yohan Blake’s 9.93 seconds in the final.

“I am satisfied to be on the team, but I didn’t execute a good race at all by any means in the finals,” he admitted. “I am very disappointed in my execution, but the good part about it is that I am on the team. It is my first real run for the season this series (at trials), so I can’t be too upset, but I was disappointed with the execution,” he repeated.

“I have to get back in training after this to fix what needs to be worked on. I have some little technicalities to work on, so I just have to work on those,” Forte said without going into details.

Forte is making his second World Championships team in a row, following his first appearance for Jamaica in Beijing, China, in 2015. He had a forgettable senior debut in Beijing where he ran the 200m, and he will be hoping to have a much better time in London in the shorter sprint event.

“I don’t have any expectations for London just yet. I am not looking that far ahead, I am just going to take it step by step,” he reasoned.

Forte will also contest the 200m in London.
