Zones of special operations Bill returns to House today
THE Zones of Special Operations Bill will head back to the House of Representatives today following passage in the Senate on Friday.
The Bill has to be returned to the House where it originated, because of the 13 amendments approved prior to its passage Friday night.
The amendments have slightly delayed the process of its implementation, which now seems likely early next week, once the amendments are approved today.
The Bill could reach King’s House for the Governor General’s assent by Friday, after a final version is printed and confirmed by the Attorney General’s Department. This could facilitate the Governor General’s signature and its publication in the Gazette within another seven days.
Minister of Justice Delroy Chuck is expected to handle the Bill in the House today. Minister of state in Ministry of National Security Pearnel Charles Jr piloted it through the Senate last Friday.
