PSOJ supports crime initiative
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ), in congratulating Senator Don Wehby on his contribution to the Senate regarding the Crime Bills, said they agree strongly that the issue of crime is one that should not be politicised.
In a release this morning, the PSOJ said it is heartened that despite the constructive criticisms, there is general agreement that these Bills are necessary in order to address the crime scourge which has been plaguing the country.
The private sector group said it is also in agreement with Prime Minister Andrew Holness, who has stated that special zone operations must be executed in a manner that protect the rights of citizens and must be supported by long term sustainable solutions.
“Crime is by far the number one challenge affecting business and living conditions in Jamaica,” it added.
According to PSOJ President, Paul Scott, “crime remains the number one impediment to growth and development of Jamaica destroying so many lives in our society. We as a society must do everything we can to curtail this scourge that has robbed the Jamaican people of better lives.”
