Jaguars meet Knights in EBL semi-finals
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Former champions Granville Jaguars will meet Cricket Club Knights in Game One of their best-of-three Western Basketball Association iCool/iDrade Elite Basketball League (EBL) semi-finals at the Montego Bay Cricket Club today at 8:00 pm.
Granville Jaguars topped the points table on Tuesday after beating MoBay Hoopers 100-67 with national representative Dave Black scoring a season-high 51 points.
Granville ended with 40 points to edge defending champions Catherine Hall All-Stars (39 points), while Holland Saints (35) took third with Knights (31) rounding out the semi-finalists.
Catherine Hall and Holland Saints are due to meet in their semi-final series on Saturday, also at the Cricket Club.
Meanwhile, the semi-finals of the WBA Tropical Blue Natural Spring Water Men’s Basketball Championships will also continue today with Sav Elite Titans taking on Herbert Morrison Spartans at the Cricket Club, starting at 6:15 pm.
The other semi-final series will see UWI-WJC Jayhawks taking on Cornwall Courts Chargers.
On Tuesday, Black warmed up for the semi-finals as he torched Hoopers with a barrage of three pointers as Granville led 25-11, 50-30 and 75-45 at the intervals.
Brendan Dawkins scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds, Levar Rose also scored 12 points, Cleon Morgan scored 11 points, while Tafari Vassell got 11 rebounds and Leroy Lawrence had 10.
Omar Bell led Hoopers with 23 points, David Gordon had 13 points and nine rebounds, Ryheen Barrett scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds, and Kuwayne Waite scored 11 points.
