If everything goes according to plan for jockey Orlando Foster, who will mount up on Fearless Samurai in tomorrow’s Jamaica St Leger, then thousands of fans will be upset with him for spoiling one of the biggest parties at Caymanas Park, but that’s a big if.

It has been seven years since a Triple Crown winner has been crowned and nine years since a filly has won the ultimate prize in racing, and She’s A Maneater is going after that treasure.

After winning the 2,000 Guineas over a mile (1,600m) in early April, Fearless Samurai tackled two turns for the first time, only to finish third under top weight in the Lotto Classic going 10 furlongs (2,000m).

Fearless Samurai’s next outing was the Boom Jamaica Derby over 12 furlongs (2,400m) where he was a no- show, finishing down the track.

Now going 10 furlongs (2,000m) again, Foster believes his charge has an excellent chance of winning.

“I love the chances of my horse Fearless Samurai and I expect him to run a good race in the St Leger on Saturday (tomorrow).

“He is a nice racehorse with lots of talent; he has class and he can win the race as well. If you are not in the race, then you don’t stand a chance of winning. If you are in the race, it simply means that I have a ticket and therefore a chance,” Foster said.

Foster also informed that his mount is training well coming into the St Leger.

“Since his Derby run last month, Fearless Samurai has been doing well. He has been training well and has done everything according to plan.

“Based on his training, Fearless Samurai is going to run a good race,” Foster said.
