WRHA appoints new chairman and board
ST ANDREW, Jamaica— A new chairman and board have been appointed for the Western Regional Health Authority (WRHA).
The Ministry of Health in a release today said CEO of Caribbean Producers Jamaica, Dr David Lowe was named the new chairman of the organisation.
His tenure took effect on July 11 and he will serve in this capacity until March 31, 2019.
The ministry added that the former chairman Tony Hart stepped down due to personal reasons but remains on the board.
The other members of the board are Merrick Fray, Glenn Lawrence, Osmond Clarke, Dennis Meadows, Sheona Muschett, Candice Craig and Jeffery Reid.
Speaking on the appointments, Health Minister Christopher Tufton said: “the new chairman and board of management will bring combined expertise and experience to effectively manage the operations of the region, especially as the ministry embarks on the some major infrastructure projects that will benefit the western parts of the country.”
Tufton thanked Hart and the management board, saying “they served during a very difficult period for the Region and their hard work and efforts in managing the operation of the WRHA are deeply appreciated.”
The minister also thanked Mark Kerr-Jarrett for his years of service.
The WRHA provides health-care through a network of four hospitals and eighty-four health centres in St James, Westmoreland and Hanover.
