Crude oil spillage after truck crashes on North/South Highway
ST ANN, Jamaica — There has been heavy crude oil spillage on the North/ South Highway in the vicinity of Mammee Bay, St Ann, due to this morning’s crash, which involved a truck.
According to the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA), the spill on the corridor has now been contained in a manmade detention point (concrete pond).
“The first responders – Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB) and Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) are on location,” NEPA said, adding that they have activated their emergency response protocol.
