KINGSTON, Jamaica — Silver medallist in the 2017 London Para Olympics, Shane Hudson and his team earned praises yesterday for their performances in the games.

According to a release from the Jamaica Paralympic Association (JPA), the games showed the Jamaican Para Olympian team’s ability to do well.

Shane Hudson won silver in the 400 metre run, his fourth on the international stage.

Director of the JPA, Ryan Foster, said that Jamaica’s participation in the games allowed the island to showcase its “trajectory for greatness”.

Foster said the achievement was made possible because the JPA gave “greater meaning to the lives of persons with disabilities backed by the benevolence of private individuals, companies and corporations.”

He was speaking yesterday at a welcome-home event for Hudson, and Chadwick Campbell, who is also recognised as the outstanding newcomer to Paralympic Games.  

“The World Games brought us to a place where our minds were opened to what people with disabilities could do and what they could achieve by sheer talent and determination,” Foster said.

He added that the JPA aimed to continue to provide avenues through which the island’s athletes can demonstrate their talent.
