Good fun in Black River
Black River , St Elizabeth — Colour, music, food and plain fun, highlighted the 2017 staging of the annual Black River Day in this coastal town last Friday.
Hundreds of people converged on the parish capital to experience what organisers of the event, the Black River Chapter of the St Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce described as “the Ultimate Street Festival”.
Locals and visitors experienced float parades, marching bands, a variety of music and many indulged in food and drink.
There was much focus on the entertainment of children with fun rides, stilt walkers and games.
When Jamaica Observer Central crew left at sunset preparations were being made for night entertainment featuring several of Jamaica’s leading artistes.
GT Taylor of the Chamber of Commerce told Observer Central by e-mail on Saturday that all went well.
“This year’s Black River Day was the biggest one to date. It was great! No incidents and all the artists performed well,” Taylor said.
The St Elizabeth police confirmed that there were no incidents reported to them.
