Weekly Round-up: Mt Salem declared first ZOSO… Harvey spikes gas prices… Dexter Pottinger dead
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Prime Minister Andrew Holness on Friday declared Mount Salem in St James as the first Zone of Special Operation.
According to Justice Minister Delroy Chuck there will be a gun amnesty in each zone, allowing residents to hand over illegal guns and other contraband within 24 to 48 hours of the start of the operation.
Hurricane Harvey wreaked havoc in the United States making landfall last Friday, causing at least 38 deaths and tens of billions of dollars in damage. Petrojam on Wednesday attributed the significant impact of the storm on the US Gulf Coast region to the jump in local gasoline prices by $1.86.
On the crime scene, fashion designer, Dexter ‘3D’ Pottinger was found murdered in his St Andrew home late Thursday. Investigators say the body had started to decompose.
