Jourdaine Fletcher scores first goal for San Jacinto South Junior College
Montego Bay, St James
Former Cornwall College daCosta Cup football star Jourdaine Fletcher has scored his first goal for San Jacinto South Junior College in their 5-1 win over Paris Junior College to take their record on the season to one win and one loss.
It was the first start for Fletcher after coming on as a substitute in their first game, a 2-3 loss to Northeast Texas, a day earlier on Friday.
Fletcher follows in the footstep of several other former Cornwall College players at the Houston, Texas school, including Dane Richards, Garnett Chisholm and Garrick Gordon.
San Jacinto South is a two-year institution that awards students an Associate Degree, and where they can earn enough credits to transfer to an NCAA Division 1 or Division 2 school for a further two years.
Fletcher set schoolboy football alight last season, scoring 36 goals, including at least one in each of their 18 daCosta Cup games, leading Cornwall College to their 13th title. He was also the top scorer in the Flow Super Cup, but was held scoreless in the final where Cornwall were beaten 1-0 by Wolmers Boys.
He also scored the equaliser in the Olivier Shield play-off against Jamaica College, as the daCosta Cup champions lost on penalty kicks.
Fletcher, who played on title winning Under-14 and Under -16 teams at Cornwall College, also played for Montego Bay United, scoring the winner against Waterhouse FC after coming on as a substitute on his debut. He later represented the Reggae Boyz in two games.
