MSBM to host Business and Management Conference
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Mona School of Business and Management at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona will host its 3rd Annual Business and Management Conference under the theme ‘Driving Transformation, Finance, Enterprise Development and Wealth Creation’.
The event is scheduled to take place November 8 -10, at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa, in Montego Bay.
The aim of the series is to provide a forum for dialogue among practitioners and researchers who have common interests in challenges faced by businesses operating in small-island developing states.
This year’s conference will focus broadly, on the role and impact of finance in enterprise development. It will feature national, regional and international scholars who are writing and researching a range of business related issues, as well as practitioners who are grappling with these issues on a daily basis.
The opening ceremony on November 8 will feature well-known Jamaican businessman Richard Byles, Chairman of Sagicor Group, who will deliver the main address.
The conference will include several plenary sessions, concurrent sessions and a special business roundtable. The main plenary will be addressed by Delroy Hunter, Professor of Finance at the University of South Florida, on the theme “(How) can we use financial development to spur economic growth and create wealth?”
A special feature of this uniquely configured conference is the incorporation of panels, which will include prominent members of the private sector, alongside regulators and academics to discuss current and relevant topics affecting the financial sector.
The conference will end with a special plenary focused on the Tourism sector.
