Students at Yallahs Primary School in St Thomas celebrated Heritage Week in style with the creative involvement of employees from telecommunications firm FLOW.

Led by the FLOW Foundation, seven employee volunteers played the roles of the island’s national heroes in a pageant-style presentation at the school on October 11.

Much to the delight of the students and staff, the FLOW staffers paraded costumes while a brief history of each hero was read aloud for the general assembly of students.

Principal Yvette Graham expressed gratitude to FLOW, saying, “This was a Heritage [Week] celebration unlike any other we have had. We are also very pleased that members of corporate Jamaica found it fit to take time from their busy schedules to spend time teaching our children about their heritage. The costumes brought the heroes to life and you could see the looks of fascination and adoration on the faces of the children.”

Courtney Bell, community programmes manager, expressed satisfaction with the effort, saying “We were heartened by the level of enthusiasm and patriotism demonstrated by the students and staff at Yallahs Primary. For us it was also an opportunity for our team members to connect with members of the community in an extraordinary way.”
