Kingston College (KC) completed an expected win over Tivoli Gardens High with a 6-0 thumping for a 10-1 aggregate score in the second round of the ISSA/FLOW Manning Cup on Wednesday night at the Stadium East field.

KC marched menacingly into the quarter-final round with the highest aggregate score so far. A Rashawn Mackison hat-trick along with goals from Omar Thompson, Jamari Morrison and Jahvon James ensured that the ‘Purples’ eased into the next round with utmost ease.

Any thoughts that Tivoli harboured of getting back into the tie after being beaten 4-1 last Saturday were vanquished when KC’s leading scorer Mackison headed home a Fabian Grant right-sided cross in the fifth minute to increase the aggregate score to 5-1.

Mackison should have doubled his tally in the 22nd minute when a neat team move between Casseam Priestly and Trayvone Reid saw Grant being played in down the right flank, but the KC striker mishit his shot from the Grant cross and the ball went wide of the target.

A curling effort from Reid a few minutes later went just wide of the post as KC continued to press the Tivoli defence.

The second goal came when Renato Campbell drove towards the goal area before passing to Mackison who adjusted his body for a one time, side-footed drive into the left corner of the goal in the 37th minute.

Three minutes before the break Thompson made it 3-0 when he froze his marker with a deft body move before expertly placing the ball in the same corner that Mackison had a few minutes earlier found.

The hat-trick for Mackison wasn’t long in coming as he fired home into the far corner from the right side of the box in the 54th minute.

Morrison buried a free kick from inside the “D” into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal with the Tivoli custodian Ricardo Brown left stranded at the other post, making it 5-0 with half an hour left to play.

With victory assured, Coach Ludlow Bernard rang the changes and substitute James gleefully took the chance to get his name on the scoresheet, firing home goal number six in the 72nd minute to complete the scoring and a 10-1 aggregate rout of the West Kingston-based school.

For Bernard, it was a pleasing result going into the quarter-final round.

“I am definitely pleased with the attitude more than anything today. It was a lot better than the previous game. This time I asked for full concentration, whether you were starting or whether you were coming from off the bench,” he said.

KC were the fifth team to qualify for the quarter-final round on Wednesday. This after defending champions Jamaica College, St Andrew Technical, Bridgeport High and Calabar High had already done so earlier in the day.
