KGN 5 turns three
‘Los Blancos’ is the theme for the third anniversary staging of the popular KGN 5 party series. It takes place tonight at the St Lucia Car Park in New Kingston.
“After three years, KGN 5 has evolved tremendously — from a small gathering to one of Jamaica’s first uptown street dances. We have increased from 500 to 2,000 patrons over that period,” Chavaughn O’Neil, co-promoter of the event, told Jamaica Observer.
The party was first held on October 25, 2014 at the Twin Gates Lounge in Half-Way-Tree, St Andrew.
He spoke about the theme for tonight’s event.
“The translation of ‘Los Blancos’ in English is ‘the whites’ and, as the name suggests, the dress code for the party is all-white,” said O’Neil.
A high-profile cadre of disc jocks and sound system selectors have been commissioned to execute the musical delights at KGN 5. They include Sir Toxic, Di Unit with Badda Bling, Code Red with Chris Dymond, and DJ Lank.
“Patrons can expect high-energy music, constant entertainment, and an authentic uptown, street dance vibe,” O’Neil added.
KGN 5 is held three times annually, February, May and October.
