St Catherine has played its role in Jamaica’s music and culture over the years. Now Ewarton-based Hon’y Combs Records is ready to make its impact on the musical stage.

The label recently released its third project, the Wet Leaf riddim.

Label executive Michael Kerr revealed the idea behind the project.

“The inspiration behind Wet Leaf rhythm is to make a new start after three years of ups and down. I really want this to be the project that puts Hon’y Combs Records on the musical landscape and put us among the big names in the business,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

“We want music lovers to hear good music and for artistes who would like to do work with us, they can have the opportunity to do so,” he continued.

Produced by Christopher Rosewell, the project features songs including Gun Play by Terry Ganzie, Addicted To Your Love (Lukie D), Nothing Gonna Change My Love for You (Ras Bogle), Carrying This Heavy Load (Gott Yo), The Poor a Suffer (Devano), Mankind Will Fail You (R Embassida), and Down in Jamaica (Blass).

Kerr says the feedback to the project has been good.

“The response has been very good and people really like the songs. We have been getting really good feedback from as far as in St Maarten,” said Kerr.

The six-year old label’s previous projects were Bitta Heart and Sweet Rain Drops.
