SPOT VALLEY, St James — Spot Valley High scored their second win in the Under-19 section of the ISSA Western Conference schoolboy basketball competition on Thursday, edging a hard-charging Cornwall College by two points, 44-42, after forfeiting their last two games.

After a slow start, Cornwall College outscored the hosts 30-20 over the last two quarters, but came up just short after trailing 5-14 and 12-24 after the first two periods.

Cornwall College are still leading in both sections, however, but have seen their lead cut to one point in the senior section where they have 10 points from six games, followed by York Castle High on nine from six as well, with defending champions Herbert Morrison Technical in third on eight points from winning all four games played so far, and Muschett High on six, also with a perfect three-game record.

Cornwall College also lead the junior division with 12 points from six games after a walk-over win against St James High on Thursday, two points better than York Castle, with Herbert Morrison Technical, who won all three games played, and Rhodes Hall, who have played four games, both on six points each.

Also on Thursday, York Castle had walk-overs against William Knibb Memorial in both sections.

In the game that was played, Roger Hines had a game-high 20 points and nine rebounds for Spot Valley, while Shavon Moulton scored 13 points for the winners.

Ryan Whyte had a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds for Cornwall College, while Ojay Marshall scored 10 points and had seven steals.
