The St James Municipal Corporation plans to spend approximately $20 million on a road-patching programme across the parish within the next five weeks.
The roads which are down for improvement works include Fairfield Avenue, which leads to the Irwin High School, the Mount Salem main road, sections of Pitfour Gardens Housing Scheme in Granville, the Granville main road, Roehampton main road, Park Avenue and Mavis Craig Road, McLeod Road in Catadupa, Lima Road, Hampton Road, Princess Street and Francis Issabella Road in Mount Salem.
“Once the weather conditions improve, we are ready to start the process of patching and resurfacing to ensure that by the turn of the upcoming festive season residents of the parish will have much improved roads on which to travel,” Homer Davis, the chairman of the St James Municipal Corporation explained.
According to Davis, the corporation has already done major improvement works on a number of other roads across the parish, which includes Rockland Road in the Anchovy area, Leader Avenue, Ramparts Close, Norwich Close in Norwood Gardens Housing Scheme and sections of the Mount Zion Road.
