Ganja valuing $11m seized in St Catherine, three men arrested
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Three men have been arrested in connection with the seizure of ganja worth millions of dollars in Gregory Park, St Catherine last night.
Reports are that about 8:00 pm, a police team signalled the driver of a Toyota Noah minivan that was travelling along Grange Lane to stop; however police said the driver sped away.
The motor vehicle was then pursued and was eventually intercepted when the driver drove onto a business establishment in the area and stopped.
A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted and 169 parcels of compressed ganja weighing 1000 pounds were found.
The premises was also searched and an additional 200 parcels of compressed ganja, weighing 1220 pounds, were found.
The drug seized (2220 pounds) has an estimated street value of $11.1 million.
Arrangements are being made for the men to be questioned in the presence of their attorneys-at-law. Their identities have not yet been released.
