Jamaica Customs hosting inaugural ‘Winter Wellness’ expo for staff
Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) will host its inaugural Wellness Exposition for staff tomorrow under the theme: ‘Taking Care of the Total You: Body Mind and Soul’.
The event will be held at the agency’s head office at Myers’ Wharf, Newport East, Kingston.
According to a news release from the agency, the event “will provide Customs employees with the requisite resources and information they can use to enhance their health and well-being, and will be a one-stop shop for employees to connect with various health care and service providers”.
Among the services that will be available are
• Blood pressure, blood glucose and cholesterol screening
• ECG tests
• Raw food exhibition and sampling
• Skin analysis and skin care using natural products.
“Employees will have the opportunity to talk to health care professionals about specific health concerns and also utilise early detection and preventative health screening services,” the agency said.
“Service providers such as LASCO Manufacturing and Financial Services, Eden Gardens Wellness Resort & Spa, Diabetes Association of Jamaica, National Health Fund, Get Active Fitness Club, Cari-Med Limited, and Proactive Lifestyle will participate in the expo,” the JCA explained.
During 2017, Customs conducted two major staff health and wellness seminars tailored for male and female employees respectively, and featured various health practitioners and motivational speakers.
Additionally, the agency held several wellness sessions with individual units in Kingston, Montego, and St Ann. The sessions were geared towards increasing the awareness of staff in maintaining good physical and mental health, as well as balancing work and family life.
