Dennis Chung to join SVL Group
The Supreme Ventures Group Friday announced that noted financial expert Dennis Chung will join the company as chief financial officer, effective February 1, 2018.
“We’re really pleased to announce Dennis’ appointment, and the board is confident that he will bring significant value and financial expertise to the SVL Group,” a company news release quoted SVL Chairman David McConnell.
“Dennis has achieved success at the highest levels of corporate entities, and in spearheading successful initiatives at both the corporate and national levels. Given our plans for growing the business, that experience will be significantly valuable to SVL’s strategy and execution,” McConnell added.
Chung, the current CEO of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica, is a chartered accountant with a solid track record in finance. He has worked at the financial controller level in the food and financial industries, and is a past president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica, having been a council member since 2003.
He is a regular economic and financial commentator in the media and writes a weekly column in the Jamaica Observer‘s Caribbean Business Report published on Fridays.
Chung’s opinions on economic and financial matters are highly valued and sought after and he has done numerous presentations on economic and financial matters in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean.
Chung will fill the position vacated by former Interim President and CEO James “Danny” Morrison, who retired in October this year. Morrison had previously served as the company’s CFO.
“The SVL family is excited to have Dennis join us in this capacity. The entire team is ready to work with him to take the business to the next level. It is an exciting journey and we have a very positive outlook as we move ahead,” the release quoted Ann-Dawn Young Sang, SVL president and CEO.
Chung currently sits on the boards of GK Capital, where he is also Audit Committee chairman. He also serves as the chairman of the National Solid Waste Management Authority, National Integrity Action and the Pension Fund Association of Jamaica.
