May Pen, Clarendon — Jamalcoans in Action (J-ACTION), a volunteer group from bauxite/alumina company Jamalco recently presented the language arts department at Lennon High School in Mocho, Clarendon with a “brand-new makeover”, according to a news release circulated here.

The release said the Jamalco volunteers and community members assembled at the institution to spruce up and brighten the dilapidated classroom with a fresh coat of paint.

The language arts department was also presented with a state-of-the-art multimedia projector.

Senior Community Relations Officer, Phillip Biggs, who organised the workday, explained that as part of its corporate social responsibility, “Jamalco makes a special effort to mobilise voluntary activities in different communities within Clarendon and Manchester.”

Speaking at the school’s general assembly, Principal Jennifer Barnett-Morris praised Jamalco for its contribution.

“We are very grateful for the gift that Jamalco has donated to the English Language department and I thank the company for its continued partnership with Lennon High School,” she said.
