Traffic changes along Barbican Road effective tomorrow
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that starting tomorrow, traffic changes will be implemented along a section of Barbican Road between Liguanea Avenue and the East Kings House Road intersections.
Communication and customer services manager at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, explained that traffic heading west along Barbican Road from the Liguanea Avenue intersection will be diverted onto Salisbury Avenue then onto Paddington Terrace to exit on East Kings House Road.
Shaw said those motorists wishing to continue towards Russell Heights or access Jacks Hill Road can use the Loop Road to get back onto Barbican Road.
He said the traffic changes are being implemented to facilitate ongoing road and sewer improvement works along Barbican Road to include laying of pipes, the cutting of sewer manholes and the placement of a concrete median after which the road surface in the westbound lane will be reinstated.
The new traffic arrangements are expected to be in place for at least two weeks.
Sections of Barbican and East Kings House Road are being improved and widened to four lanes under a US4.4 million dollar contract. The works are being undertaken as part of the National Works Agency’s Major Infrastructure Development Project (MIDP) and is expected to significantly improve traffic management along the corridor.
