Muschett, William Knibb look to make progress
WAKEFIELD, Trelawny — Muschett High and William Knibb Memorial will both be seeking to make progress in the ISSA/Western Conference boys basketball competition today when the first round resumes with three rescheduled games after a near month-long break.
The Trelawny schools will play a double-header in Wakefield, while Green Pond will host Holland High at Green Pond in an Under-19 game.
Both Muschett High and William Knibb are in contention for semi-final spots, Muschett High in the Under-19 section and William Knibb in the Under-16 and wins today would enhance their positions.
Muschett High are second in the Under-19 points table on 20 from 11 games, four behind leaders and defending champions Herbert Morrison Technical, who have played 12 games followed by York Castle on 18 from 13 games and Cornwall College on 17 points from 12 games.
Cornwall College lead the Under-16 section with 25 points from 13 games, three more points than defending champions Herbert Morrison, who have 22 on all 11 games played; York Castle are in third spot on 20 points followed by Rhodes Hall on 16 points from 10 games, Holland High are next on 15 points from 13 games, William Knibb also have 15 points but from just 10 games played with four to go.
Holland High are dark horses to make the semi-finals of the Under-19 and should move up in the standing today, as they take on the winless Green Pond, who have lost all 10 games played before the stoppage.
