KINGSTON, Jamaica — Retired Commissioner of Police George Quallo in his farewell message to members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says he gave his best as he thanked them for their “unwavering support”.

Quallo, in the message circulated last Friday said it has been his distinct pleasure to have served in the office of commissioner since last April.

“I thank you for your unwavering support and for remaining dedicated to the task to serve, protect and reassure the people of Jamaica,” said Quallo, adding that it is the support of the members, his faith in God;  love for country and the JCF, that have kept him grounded throughout the over forty years he has have served.

He said that he has experienced the best and worst of times during his sojourn and that these experiences have molded him into the man he is today.

“As I reflect on my career, I can say unequivocally that I gave of my best; I gave my time, my attention and my dedication. I leave this organisation with the belief that I have positively impacted many lives and with the assurance that there are many who remain that have done and will continue to do same,” expressed Quallo.

He also challenged members to remain resolute in the face of sometimes overwhelming adversity.

“Remain focused and allegiance to the oath of office. Continue to build and sustain relationships with those you serve. I can attest to the tremendous value in these relationships toward crime fighting and peace building,” said Quallo.

He demitted office last Wednesday with Deputy Commissioner of Police Clifford Blake set to act in the post until a new police commissioner is appointed.
