MoBay Comm College cops 3rd in CCCJ
CATHERINE HALL, St James —Montego Bay Community College placed a creditable third in last Saturday’s third staging of the Council of Community College of Jamaica’s (CCCJ) track and field and cheerleading championships that was held at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.
Led by their female athletes who won their section for the first time, Montego Bay Community College amassed 200.5 points in the overall section behind new champions, Knox Community College (285.5) points and outgoing champions, Exed CC (213).
Hodecia Housen was a double winner for the Montego Bay Community College women and was part of two new records, while Dean Stewart also set a new meet record.
Housen won the sprint double, taking the 100m in 12.88 seconds, before breaking the record in the 200m with a new mark of 26.11 seconds, beating the 26.58 seconds set last year by Robyn McPherson of Moneague College.
She was part of the women’s 4x100m team that clocked 52.34 seconds, under the 52.86 seconds set by Moneague College last year.
Stewart threw the javelin 26.34m to break the record of 22.85m set last year by Knox CC’s Naziem Chambers, who was third on Saturday.
