Etana gets her second number one on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart this week. Reggae Forever, her fifth studio effort, moved from five to the top spot in its third week.

“It’s my first executively produced independent album distributed by Tad’s Record. It’s a great achievement and I’m grateful. It takes a lot of work in the age of streaming to sell albums, therefore I’m happy that my fans and even new fans thought to purchase my album,” Etana said in an interview yesterday with the Jamaica Observer while on tour in Arizona.

The 14-track set has songs produced by Freemind Music, J Vibe Productions, Rymshot Productions, Kirkledove, Royal Roots Band and Dorian Green.

“We collectively made a decision to collaborate with Tads Records for distribution. It sounds simple but it’s a whole lot of work. The production started on January 1, 2017 and took three months to record the songs but almost the entire year to perfect and complete the process with a small team,” Etana explained.

Reggae Forever’s songs include Spread Love, Fighting for Nothing, You’re The One, My Man and Good Enough.

Etana’s previous chart-topper was 2014’s I Rise. She also made the Billboard Reggae table with The Strong One (number 12 in 2008); Free Expressions (number 11 in 2011); and Better Tomorrow (number nine in 2013).

Elsewhere, Damian Marley’s Stony Hill rises from number four to number two, while last week’s chart-topper Grateful Dub by Roots of Creation, drops to number three.

The various artistes’ compilation, Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica, moves up four places to number four. Also advancing is Henricci’s Sister Caro EP, from number seven to number five.

The long-charting Poetry in Motion by SOJA moves from 10 to six, while Good Life, a former number one from Collie Buddz, has a big surge from 24 to number seven.

Chronology by Chronixx also enjoys a revival, moving from 12 to number eight. Another former number one, A Real Labour of Love by UB40 Featuring Ali, Astro and Mickey, drops from six to three.

Closing out the top 10 is Wash House Ting, the Grammy-nominated set from J Boog. Last week, it was 23.
