Be brave!
Dear Editor,
Martin Luther King Jr, Marcus Garvey, Nelson and Winnie Mandela, Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, and former world heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali were some of the great stalwarts who put their lives on the line in the fight against racial discrimination and they spoke up for and defended black people in a brave manner.
We thank and appreciate them for their courageous fight and concern for their fellow men and women.
The leaders of Jamaica should take a leaf out of the books of these brave men and women and speak out about lewd music in Jamaica and see to it that it’s not being played on public transport, in public spaces and places. That’s what they ought to do.
On the other hand, like those courageous warriors I mentioned above, women who are being physically and mercilessly abused by their so-called spouses and lovers should also be brave, speak out, and leave these homes once and for all. I know it may be easier said than done.
However, I believe more can be done to protect abused women from abusive men.
