Jamaican beauty queen joins fight against human trafficking
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Miss Jamaica World 2017 Solange Sinclair has joined forces with the Human Task Force Against Trafficking in Person to combat modem-day slavery.
Sinclair, who was sashed along with human trafficking survivor Shamere McKenzie as ambassadors at the International Conference held at Melià Braco hotel in Trelawny told OBSERVER ONLINE that she was compelled to volunteer after she read a book in the topic two years ago.
The beauty queen explained that after she completed the book she realised that human trafficking is a humanitarian crisis that exists in Jamaica.
According to the 2018 Slavery Index, 89 million people experience some form of modern-day slavery.
