Mitchell appointed to Issa Trust Foundation board
HOWARD Mitchell has been appointed as a board member of the Issa Trust Foundation.
In a release recently, president and CEO of the Issa Trust Foundation Diane Pollard said the foundation is pleased to welcome Mitchell as a new board member.
“Howard brings a wealth of experience and expertise in his field, and will be a tremendous asset as we further our mission of impacting the lives of the children through our medical and educational programmes,” Pollard is quoted as saying.
According to the release, a lawyer by profession, Mitchell maintained a successful commercial law practice for 35 years, with concentrations in mining law and taxation, before retiring in 2010.
Mitchell is currently the president of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica and is also currently serving as chairman of All Jamaica Air Services Limited, chairman of the Council of the Institute of Jamaica, as well as company director of TM Traders Ltd, CariMed and Kirk Distributors Limited.
“Mr Mitchell has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service for decades and was appointed to the board of the National Housing Trust in 1987, and again served as chairman from February 2008 to June 2012. He serves as a justice of the peace and in 2017 he was awarded the Order of Distinction (Commander Class) for outstanding service to business and the public sector,” the release said.
A non-profit corporation, the Issa Trust Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Couples Resorts.
