All umbrellas were out at Daydreams, all-white affair and one of the most-awaited Dream Weekend events, which unfolded last Saturday afternoon.

Steadfast showers were not enough to keep patrons away from the Wonderland Beach venue in Negril. They huddled under booths and enjoyed early juggling by DJs like Crazy Neil.

Jamaican-born Colorado resident Jennifer Burnett was dancing up a storm and wasn’t afraid to get wet.

“I love the rain, so I’m definitely loving this party right now,” Burnett told the Jamaica Observer. This marked her fifth time at Dream Weekend.

By nightfall, the venue was flooded by scores of revellers ready to live it up like Burnett.

Coppershot and Illusion Sound also manoeuvred the turntables and blasted hits from popular genres that kept the high energy going until after 10:00 pm when the event ended.

Shortly after, Cayenne Beach proved the spot for throwback lovers like Christina Young at the fifth event, Yush. Young, also from Colorado, is a first-time Dream Weekender.

“Oh, my God, I love Dream, I love Jamaicans,” she told the Jamaica Observer. “My dad is from Barbados so y’all are like a cousin to us; I am loving it here.”

Young was moving to the sounds of Mighty Crown, who selected 1990s dancehall favourites like Wayne Wonder’s Joyride and Shabba Ranks’ Ting-A-Ling.

Bass Odyssey also provided entertainment in “Emancipendence” style and took patrons on a musical journey with a set comprising ska, reggae and dancehall.

DJ Delano skipped a few years to the early 2000s with tracks like This is Why I’m Hot by Mims and Drop it Like it’s Hot by Snoop Dogg and Pharelle. He rounded off his throwback set with a local mix Beres Hammond, Buju Banton and Bounty Killer. DJ Delano was also booked for ‘Mawnin After’ at Island Lux beach this morning, Dream Weekend’s first ever breakfast party in light of its 10-year anniversary. The final day of revelling featured ‘Igloo’ at Cayenne Beach and ended with Dream J’Ouvert at Wonderland.
