Pipeline works to affect water supplies in Kingston this week

THE National Water Commission (NWC), as part of its ongoing non-revenue water reduction programme being carried out with co-management partners Miya International, will this week carry out emergency pipeline work that will impact several sections of the Corporate Area.

These works, the NWC said, are slated to facilitate valve and meter installations which will result in water supply disruptions to the following areas:

Work, which will be done today and tomorrow between 8:00 pm and 8:00 am, will affect:

Constant Spring, Norbrook, Cherry Garden, Liguanea, Lady Musgrave Road, Manor Park, Shortwood, Eastwood Park Gardens, Molynes Road, Waltham Park Road, Olympic Way, Bay farm Road, Hagley Park Road, Washington Boulevard, Dunrobin Avenue, Calabar Mews, Ziadie Gardens, State Gardens, Manning’s Hill Road, Constant Spring Road and Gardens, Half- Way-Tree, Camperdown Terrace, Spanish Town Road and Havendale, Valentine Gardens, Meadowbrook, Queensborough and Roehampton

And on Thursday and Friday, also between the hours of 8:00 pm and 8:00 am, work will result affect the delivery of water in several sections of downtown Kingston — Orange Street, Charles Street, Luke Lane, Princess Street, Mathews Lane, Pink Lane, Bond Street, Chestnut Street, Ocean Boulevard, Beckford Street, Hanover Street, Banana Street, Vauxhaul Avenue, and sections of Trench Town

Other areas which the NWC said will also be affected are: Pines of Karachi, Long Mountain, Beverly Hills, Cross Roads, Harbour View, Port Royal, Seven Miles, Mountain View, Vineyard Town, Deanery Road, Elletson Road, Liguanea, Old Hope Road, Monroe Road, Langston Road, Glenmore Road, Shooter’s Hill and surroundings, Rockfort, Windward Road, Palisadoes and the Norman Manley International Airport

Hope Pastures, Gordon Town, Mona Heights, Ravina, Liguanea, Standpipe Lane, Hope Road, Up Park Camp, East King’s House, Charlemont Avenue, Barbican Road; and Dominica Drive, Oxford Road, Haining Road in New Kingston could also be without water on the days works are being carried out.

The pipeline work on Saturday will be carried out between 8:00 and to 6:00 pm and will again in sections of downtown Kingston — Orange Street, Charles Street, Luke Lane, Princess Street, Mathews Lane, Pink Lane, Bond Street, Chestnut Street, Ocean Boulevard, Beckford Street, Hanover Street, Banana Street, Vauxhaul Avenue, as well as sections of Trench Town.

The NWC has advised customers to store water for use during the disruption period specified, and urged motorist to observe the traffic signals of the work crews on the various worksites.

The commission said, too, that, in addition to planned interruptions in service, disruptions may also occur in parts of the Corporate Area due to unannounced emergency work, breaks to pipelines, air blockages, and localised problems.
