It was very irresponsible for Michael Burke to describe the ongoing uncovering of child-raping Catholic priests as “blown out of proportion”.

He wrote in his August 9, 2018 column, ‘Saint John Paul II in Jamaica 25 years ago’, that: “At the time of the visit of Pope John Paul II, the paedophilia scandals had not yet been blown out of proportion.”

For me, men in long dresses and collars raping children and being given cover by the Vatican — by sending perpetrators to other countries — is so cruel, heartless, hateful, criminal, perverted, and disgusting that no reporting of this rape of children can blow it out of proportion.

As they were covertly raping children they were giving communion — consecrating bread and water into Jesus’s body and blood — christening children, and marrying people.

For God’s sake, be rational, Burke!

Pope Francis excused the whole notion by telling the British Broadcasting Corporation ( BBC) that “only two per cent” of his priests are paedophiles, and two per cent of 400,0000 priests is 8,000 paedophile priests. Look up Pope Francis’s mind-boggling admission if you doubt me.

So there are 8,000 priests raping children in the Catholic church!

A Pennsylvania report ( Daily Mail) said that state alone had 300 child-raping priests over a 50-year period who had been transferred to unsuspecting churchgoers who trusted them with their children.

I am not Catholic, nor do I believe in hocus-pocus, worse the practice of saying Our Fathers and Hail Marys for sin — Is that what child-raping priests were asked to do after their acts came to light?

Catholics run good schools, but apart from pedagogy I have no time for those apologists for child rapists.

Have some shame, Burke. Say nothing rather than try to cover up the enormity of the situation in an article meant for public consumption.
