Man kills wife, attempts suicide in St Catherine
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — The police are reporting that a woman was killed by her husband at their home in the Bannister Housing Scheme in Old Harbour, St Catherine yesterday.
The woman has been identified as 43-year-old Mar-lee Russell Knight.
According to police reports, the couple had an altercation about 2:00 pm and the man reportedly used a pick-axe to inflict wounds to the woman’s head.
The police said the accused fled the scene and allegedly drank a poisonous substance in an effort to kill himself.
The two were subsequently taken to hospital where the woman died while the man is under police guard.
