Video: An Appreciation of KOHLER!

The Wisconsin-headquartered Kohler Co has partnered with the Jamaica Observer to present Design Week JA 2018. Year two of the design initiative began with a soirée at the Tile City & Home Centre showroom last Sunday. Guests were engaged in an evening of design conversation with Kohler Co representative Roberto Riolobos, senior sales executive — Caribbean & Central America. Riolobos discussed his company’s interests in developing the Kohler Co brand in his portfolio and mentioned Jamaica’s rise as the lead distributor of Kohler’s state-of-the-art products.

Erin Lilly, lead designer — decorative products, who also presented, provided an update on the season’s design trends. According to Lilly, this season’s foremost colours include black plum, dark indigo and grey lavender – adding that copper finishes create a maximalist design aesthetic. Other trends include decluttering – starting with a clean slate to transform the household into a “Zen” sanctuary. In addition, opting for the “modern momentum”, as she put it, is a way to evolve the savviness of the modern creatives who are completely changing the narrative in design.

Recognised for innovation and design excellence globally, Kohler Co, the household name that has received numerous and celebrated design awards including consumer choice awards, was the right fit for Design Week JA 2018 – a Jamaica Observer initiative presented by Kohler, and supported by the National Housing Trust, Tile City & Home Centre, National Commercial Bank, Caribbean Airlines, Spanish Court Hotel, Business Access TV and Wealth Magazine.
