KINGSTON, Jamaica — Former President of Mexico Vicente Fox and his wife Marta arrived in Montego Bay a short while ago as he readies himself to deliver a keynote speech at an international Cannabis conference being held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre by CanEx tomorrow morning.

He was met on arrival by Senior Advisor/ Strategist, Ministry of Tourism, Delano Seiveright; CanEx Founder and Organiser, Douglas Gordon and CEO of Zimmer & Co T’Shura Gibbs.

The CanEx Jamaica Business Conference and Expo, which was first held in 2016, is an annual business-to-business (B2B) event that brings together top cannabis industry experts from the United States, Canada, South and Central America, Europe, Australia and the Caribbean.

The vocal centre-right former president in commenting on the conference noted that, “The cannabis industry offers tremendous economic, health and social benefits in Mexico and around the world. I welcome the opportunity to share, network and advocate for its continued progress at CanEx Jamaica”.

Mexico, which is the third most populated country in the western hemisphere behind the United States and Brazil, legalised cannabis for medicinal purposes last year.

Seiveright noted that, “President Fox is a strong supporter of ganja law reform and in 2016 co-signed a letter to then United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon calling for more humane drug policy and is strong in his views for legalisation.”
