NWA commences work on Christian Pen main road in St Catherine
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — The National Works Agency (NWA) says it has commenced a second phase of works along the Christian Pen main road in Portmore, St Catherine, and is advising individuals to expect minor delays while traversing the area over the next two weeks.
NWA, in a release today, said the new phase of works includes the cleaning of drains, construction on a new base and the laying of Asphaltic Concrete.
Manager of communication and customer services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, said the new phase of works, which should be completed in one month, complements activities undertaken earlier this year along the corridor.
The NWA said earlier this year, it completed works valued at just under $10 million. Those works included significant drainage and base improvements.
“Under the new phase of works, some 2,700 square meters of road will be rehabilitated at a cost of just under eight million dollars. The work will be concentrated along the section of road near the health centre,” NWA said.
